- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Bereavement and loss
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Confusion, despair, sadness or anger
- Coping with illness or disability
- Depression
- Difficulty coping with everyday issues
- Relationship issues
- Stress
- Violence and abuse
- Work related issues
What kind of counselling will I receive?
Counselling is about being supported by a trained counsellor as you work out your own way through your difficulties. Our well qualified team of counsellors use a variety of counselling approaches to suit your individual needs. We will not tell you what you should do or offer advice but we provide safe, confidential sessions where you can explore issues or feelings which cause you distress or difficulty. Here at The Well Counselling Service we offer non-judgemental counselling in which you are accepted and understood and your decisions respected.
What about confidentiality?
We work in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ‘s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP’s Ethical Framework) and all our counsellors are individual members of professional counselling organisations. The work of each of our counsellors is overseen by a supervisor in accordance with BACP guidelines.
As an organisation we support the rights you have regarding the management of your personal information, as given in the General Data Protection Regulations. Full information on privacy at The Well Counselling can be found on our Your data page and our Website Privacy Policy page.
Who can have counselling?
Counselling is available for anyone from 18 years of age, irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin or religion.
How long will counselling last?
You will have weekly counselling with your counsellors, at the same time and on the same day, with a review after 4 to 6 sessions to see whether more sessions would be helpful. Some people find they need only a few weeks to work through their issues while for others it may take several months.
What will it cost?
The Well Counselling seeks to provide professional counselling to anyone who requires help whatever their financial position. The service we provide would cost you a minimum of £40-£50 per session from a private counsellor.
After you have registered for counselling with us, we will contact you to arrange an assessment appointment, this is to ensure we are able to offer the right type of support to meet your needs and to help allocate you to the right counsellor for you. There is a non-refundable fee for the Assessment Appointment of £15, this is can be reduced to £10.00 if you are on benefits.
Please be assured that we will never turn anyone away if they cannot afford to contribute anything, and we provide the same professional service to everyone irrespective of the amount contributed.
However, to ensure our service is sustainable, whilst there is no fixed charge for counselling sessions, we rely on clients contributing an amount towards the cost of their sessions which is affordable by you.
When you apply for counselling, you will be asked to complete a form indicating a weekly session fee which you are able to contribute. The options are £0, £5, £10, £15, £20, £25, £30, or £40.
The more you are able to contribute, the more you will be helping us to continue to offer our services to others who cannot afford private counselling.
How do I arrange an appointment?
You can email us via the Contact form on the Contact Us page or you can leave a message on our answer phone on 07793 505832. Messages and emails are checked daily and responded to within 24 hours during the working week.
How long will I need to wait?
We will endeavour to offer you an assessment appointment as soon as possible. This appointment will help us to get to know you and will give you the opportunity to talk about what you would like to get from counselling.
If you would benefit from counselling at The Well, we will then arrange for you to see a counsellor on a regular basis. There is a waiting list. How long you have to wait will depend on your needs and availability.
We offer counselling in the day time Mondays to Wednesdays, Thursday afternoon and occasionally in the evening. The more flexible you can be regarding your availability, the more quickly we are likely to be able to offer you a counsellor.
